All of our coir mats are backed in PVC for extra protection against slip hazards. Although the coconut fibres have excellent scraping and absorption properties that minimise the spread of dirt and moisture, surplus water may collect in between the fibres. PVC backed coir helps to prevent this excess moisture from seeping onto the floor, which reduces the chances of accidents, ensuring everyone is safe in the workplace. You should avoid using PVC-backed coir matting in an outdoor setting where it could get very wet, as the PVC may become oversaturated with water.

For further safety measures, we also offer a premium rubber-edged mat, which is designed to prevent trip accidents. The rubber edge acts as a ramp, manufactured with a subtle gradient for ease of use and accessibility. The ramped edge is applied to each side of the mat, with a width of 5.5cm.

How Thick Should A Coir Mat Be?

You can purchase a 14mm, 17mm, 23mm, or 28mm thick coir mat! If your mat is going to be installed in a mat well, you will need to measure the depth of the recess to ensure the mat lays evenly within the space.
