Plus, the coconut fibres contain a high level of lignin, which is a structural polymer found in plants to increase strength and durability. As coir is 100% biodegradable, they are one of the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions. The open weave pattern of the coir fibres means it can be easily wiped clean or shaken off outdoors. All of our coir door mats are manufactured with PVC backing to prevent surplus water from seeping onto the floor. The PVC-backed coir adds extra protection for your staff and visitors, reducing the chances of slip hazards and potential injuries. If your flooring is particularly polished and smooth, such as wood or tile, the PVC offers stability, providing additional grip beneath the mat so it doesn’t slide and move across the floor. As the PVC is designed to hold water, you should avoid using our mats in outdoor environments as they may not dry out properly. Covered porches and entranceways are acceptable.

DOES COIR DOOR MATTING SHED?

Yes, coir does shed when first used, however, it is nothing to worry about as it will stop eventually. Our high-grade coir ensures shedding is kept to a minimum, so your entrance remains as tidy as possible. To reduce the shed, there are additional measures that you can take. Your mat should be maintained and cleaned regularly, for hygiene reasons and to keep your mat in top-notch condition. Vacuuming your mat on a low setting can remove loose dirt and coir fibres quickly, which will prolong the life of your mat.
