Get the Same Coir Look but Without the Shed – Why Choose Brush Matting?
Brush matting, also known as synthetic matting, offers similar benefits to coir but without the shedding and a more modern touch. The brush mats we manufacture here at Commercial Matting are made out of polypropylene, which is a durable thermoplastic polymer that is commonly used for fabrics and textiles. Due to its chemical structure, polypropylene offers a soft but rigid appeal and is resistant to fading. As a result of this, it makes a fantastic matting material that will hold up against general wear and tear.
To create this style of mat, the polypropylene fibres are looped and then cut to create a texture that resembles the look and feel of traditional coir. Our brush mats are designed with a ribbed appearance, that offers excellent scraping properties.
Benefits of Brush Matting
1. No shedding
As mentioned above, one of the main advantages of brush matting is that it does not moult or shed. This is an attractive feature for businesses or households that require a clean and tidy appearance at all times.
Brush matting is extremely durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic without showing signs of wear and tear, similar to coir. For commercial settings such as offices, shops, and restaurants, brush matting is a great choice to leave a lasting impression. As they are manufactured out of tough synthetic fibres, brush mats are resistant to fading and moisture, making them a practical and long-lasting solution. Our brush mats are guaranteed for 10 years for heavy commercial wear and pass the flammability test for BS EN 13501 – 1 Efl-s1, so you can rely on us for top-quality products!
3. Low maintenance
As brush matting does not shed, it is quicker and easier to maintain than traditional coir matting. To remove loose dirt, brush mats can be shaken, vacuumed, or swept. For stains, you can use mild detergent and water to clean the mat without damaging the fibres. Additionally, if your mat becomes particularly dirty, synthetic fibres can also be steam cleaned, but check with your mat supplier first.
Similar to our range of coir mats, our selection of brush mats can be purchased in a variety of colours and sizes to suit your needs. From bold and bright colours to more muted and natural tones, brush matting can be tailored to your décor. Furthermore, all of our brush mats can be bought with our made-to-measure service, which is ideal if you have an irregular shaped space to fill.
Brush matting is an affordable flooring solution that will keep your interior space clean and protected for a long period of time.
5. Increased accessibility
As coir is relatively thick, it can sometimes be difficult for wheelchairs, prams, trolleys, etc., to pass through. If you require more accessibility, then brush matting is a fantastic substitute. The brush mats we stock range from 11mm to 13.5mm thick, which can be loose-laid or trimmed to fit within a shallow mat well. If you are having your mat loose-laid, we suggest selecting our brush mats with a rubber edge, to minimise trip accidents and to allow wheelchairs and prams to roll over easily.
